What is a personal chef? A personal chef is someone who prepares meals for you and your family and friends based on the your own personal preferences. A personal chef can also do anything from a romantic dinner for two to a family get-together or a special party for your friends.

Picture yourself coming home from work to enjoy a healthy and tasty meal prepared just for you! You might be surprised to learn that this "luxury" can actually save you money on your food bill, not to mention precious time!

I follow traditional favorite recipes using healthier alternatives such as locally grown ingredients, whole grain breads, reduced fat cheeses, olive oil, organic vegetables and fruits, lower fat meats, poultry and fish. I also use fresh ground pepper, sea salt as well as freshly ground spices and herbs from my own herb garden.

All menu items typically include 6-8 generous servings which come packaged together in the same family-sized container! Items can also be labeled with re-heating instructions. Nutrition information is also available on request for all our menu items including: Calories, fat, protein, cholesterol, sodium, dietary fiber and Weight Watchers points.

If you find you are spending too much money at restaurants, eating unhealthy food and much too large portions, why not save money and “treat yourself” by hiring me as your own personal chef?

What is a personal chef?

A personal chef prepares meals for you based on the your personal preferences. Prepared meals are typically packaged in containers and refrigerated or frozen for you to enjoy later. Personal chef's are also available to do dinners and other special occasions in a your home. Note: A personal chef is distinct from a private chef, which refers to a chef who is employed exclusively by one client, and in some cases lives in the client's home.

How does it typically work?

When hiring me as your personal chef, I can provide you with either packaged meal service or  cook for a dinner party.  First a menu and a budget are submitted for your approval. Once I receive approval from you, typically I receive a deposit  to shop for food for the agreed upon menu items. In addition to the food costs, you will be charged for my labor services.  Gratuities are customary but at your discretion.

Who uses a personal chef?

Anyone who is too busy to cook every day. If you are young, an empty-nester, have children, live alone, or perhaps are recuperating from an illness, having a personal chef is an easy way to eat well and eat what you like.

Who chooses the menu?

You do. I will discuss your likes and dislikes. If you have a favorite family recipe, I can prepare that for you as well.

What menu items are available?

Please see our sample menu, but remember, you are the client and I’ll prepare what you desire.

What if I have special dietary needs?

I can prepare foods that cater to your dietary needs -- low fat, low sodium, diabetic and weight watchers. I can also purchase organic food and prepare it for you. Our motto is: Guilt free comfort food made the healthy way!

How often do you cook?

As often as you like -- once a week, occasionally, or for special celebrations when you (my clients) are too busy to cook.

How are the meals stored?

I provide all of the packaging, either for immediate use, refrigerator storage, freezer storage, and packaging for either oven or microwave use.

How does using personal chef compare to take-out foods and dining at restaurants?

Having a personal chef costs less than many take-out meals or going out to eat. More importantly, it’s tailored to your tastes, needs, and diet. And having a personal chef means you don’t have to stand in line in a crowded restaurant with hungry family or guests, or interrupt your afternoon to stand in line at the grocery store.

How much does it cost?

My fee is $25.00 per hour (4-hour minimum) plus the cost of the food. This fee includes grocery shopping, preparation, packaging, and clean-up.
